Unspoiled beaches, wild nature, ancient ruins, century-old woods… its impossible to explain the extraordinary appeal of Maremma’s Regional Park. Our most heartfelt advice: go and see it for yourselves.
Experienced guides will walk with you to the most hidden and spectacular spots.
Maremma’s Regional Park covers more than 9800 hectare and is located in the Grosseto province, in the south of Tuscany. For further information on how to reach the park and on its opening hours, please contact the Info Point by the Reception and visit the website http://www.parco-maremma.it.
One of our colleagues decided to experience the park first hand and here are his impressions.
Itinerary A2: great landscapes, breathtaking views over the Mediterranean woods from the ancient tower, sights of pinetrees, green-blu sea, the eyes sweep the horizon from Argentario to the left, to Montecristo, Elba and Corsica; a solitary dip in the sea from the long stretch of beach with small huts of canopy peaking through the bushes. Very interesting explanations, especially historical, from our guide Milů.
All together a pleasant 2 hour walk, not very difficult (apart from a few rocky stretches), accessible to all (some parents hiked with babies on their backs). The sun is very strong, bring a large brim hat, good sunscreen and closed shoes or strong sandals.
The pinewood forest offered refreshing moments in the shade.
Itinerary A5/A6: a jump into nature, animals, groups of deer and their little ones, foxes, birds and insects, turtles… and plants, very green and shaded ecosystem, the forest is divided into two parts: a man-altered part (coal miners) and a pristine part… two great cork trees with ivy spiraling around their tall trunks and covering all foliage; lunch break in the woods, on a shaded hill: if it weren’t for scavenger foxes, it would be an ideal after-lunch nap location.
